Made entirely by hand. Small variations in the silk turns, leaf curve and shell centre are part of the piece.

How It Is Worn

Twist, push through, turn a quarter and let go.

Gather the hair low, twist it once, then slide the fork through the twist so the tip catches the hair underneath. A quarter turn locks it in place.

  • Works with a low chignon, French twist or half-up knot.
  • The 13 cm fork suits shoulder-length hair and longer.
  • Leaves and tendrils can be gently posed by hand.

Finishing Youlan by Hand

Silk-wrapped leaves, fine wire branches and moving drops are brought into balance through careful hand shaping.

FINAL ASSEMBLY

Balancing the final form

Each silk-wrapped leaf is positioned and secured by hand. The maker refines the curve of the spray, tightens the fine wire joins and checks the moving drops so the finished piece feels balanced from every angle.

Size & Weight

Overall: approx. 19 × 8 cm (7.5 × 3.1 in)

Leaf spray: approx. 8 cm across

Fork: approx. 13 cm (5.1 in)

Leaves: approx. 3 cm each

Silk over wire keeps the ornament visually generous without the drag of cast metal.

The studio shared photos of the finished piece before packing, which made the made-to-order process feel considered.

Photos honestly do not do it justice. The relief catches afternoon light and the surface seems to move.

The mineral surface and frame have enough presence to sit comfortably beside larger gallery pieces.

The water tones brought a calm focal point to a space that had always felt unresolved.

Morning light softens the blue. Evening light brings the raised silver lines forward.

It does not overwhelm the room, yet it is the first detail guests notice.

The deep-set white frame gives the small canvas the breathing room of a much larger work.

Love the meaning behind these pieces. I got one as a wedding gift for a friend who had just bought her first apartment. She sent a photo of it on her wall the same evening.

The details and colours are gorgeous in person. The packaging and service were excellent too.
