This handmade fabric flower brooch starts as a length of plain satin — cut, tinted, heat-pressed, then built up petal by petal around a sculpted core: dozens of hand steps over three to five days, until flat cloth holds the shape of a flower at the moment it opens. A fresh tulip lasts about a week. This one keeps that moment for good.

The parrot tulip is the flamboyant one in the tulip family — petals that twist and flame outward, fringed like feathers where a plain tulip stays smooth. Every bloom is shaped by hand and tinted with mineral pigment, so color, curl and size vary slightly from piece to piece; that variation is the signature of work done one flower at a time.
